HORIKAWA RIVER AT THE ICHIJO BRIDGE
Under pressure from increasing traffic loads, much of Horikawa river has
been buried. What is left exposed has been turned into a desolate,
concrete lined culvert. Recently, the government has shown some interest
in rivers within the urban framework, however, river beautification is not
the only issue; there is also the need to incorporate natural environments
in a broader sense.
